We headed to the Columbia Riverbanks Zoo early in the day to beat the heat.

We started off in the botanical garden

A Day in the Park

After preschool one day last week we went to a park.  We had packed a little lunch and found a park with some shade to beat the heat.

Avery in Preschool

Avery started preschool this year at a nearby Methodist church.  Mom Maeve took her in (she did shed a few tears) and Grandma Rose and Grandpa Bob picked her up.

Day two and a little shy...

...but there were kids to play with so the shyness wore off.

September Swimmin'

September 8 and 92deg in Red Bank, SC just outside of Lexington.  The Masons joined us to cool off in the pool.

August Endings

While Rose flew back to SC to provide nanny care for Avery, Bob remained in Michigan for two weeks in August.  He spent a few days with the Denjas, said goodbye to the Finlans and on August 27 headed south on the Harley.  One stop was in Columbus, IN to check out the architecture of the small town provided by the Cummins diesel company support.  The other stops were to finish up the Bourbon Trail in KY.  The first was at the Jim Beam distillery and the second at the Heaven Hill Bourbon Heritage center.
