Kendall's 5th Party

Today the Masons had a birthday party for Kendall at the Columbia Marionette Theater.  They invited some of her friends and family friends to a party at the theater and they saw a creative and modified production of "Little Red Riding Hood" with marionettes.  Pictures follow.  All had a great time.

February Pics and Kendall is Five

We celebrated Kendall's fifth birthday on Friday, Feb 21 after she came home from school.  She wanted macaroni and cheese and pizza for her gourmet meal so guess what our menu was!  I'm starting with a few random pictures of our February after the storm.

Seems appropriate that the last remnant of snow is by the Michigan M

Icy times and Valentines in SC

Valentine's week in South Carolina was quite the week this year.  A major ice storm hit the area and schools and government offices were closed for three days.  So, we had no choice but to play!  To end the week we even got to experience a 4.2 earthquake...our first experience.  It shook the whole house and made a low, growling rumbling sound but no damage.  What else might February 2014 bring?

Mimosas and Bananagrams on a snow day

None of this is snow.  It is all sleet build up so not good for making snowmen but the kids tried

A makeshift sled

"Do it again!"

The ice took down a large limb on the Mason's tree in the backyard

Happy Valentine's Day!

Flowers for Maeve

Goodie bags for the girls

"Look what I got!"

We even got a bag of goodies.

Wow!  Those are big!

Icy South Carolina

The latest storm to pass through the southeast clipped us pretty well but our immediate area dodged a bit bullet as we only had 3-5 inches of sleet and then a quarter inch of ice on top.  South of us there were areas with as much as an inch of ice!  Our power stayed on, too!

I thought I left this crap back in Michigan!

This is not snow.  It is all accumulated sleet pellets

Kendall and Avery enjoyed the white stuff

Our sweet bay magnolia could end up with some real damage

Our palm tree in front should be ok

Off for a little hike in the land of ice.  The girls had just seen the movie Frozen a couple nights earlier and they said this must be that land.

Lots of leaning trees

Here you see the ice build up

Kendall is sitting on the bush not just leaning.  You can't tell but the bush is frozen

Avery got in the act, too
