A Boat Ride and Visit to Grand Rapids
This last full week of September was great. Great weather, a great and free boat ride and a great visit to Pat Finlan and the Grand Rapids Art Prize event. Check out the pics. We had a wonderful visit with Pat and lots of reminiscing. Thank you Pat!
On a beautiful Michigan fall day the Kensington Metropark offered free rides for seniors on the "Island Queen" pontoon on Kensington Lake
The colors are starting to turn
The turtles enjoyed the sun
The swans took flight
A bunch of coots on the lake
Rose and Pat Finlan as we begin a great day at the Grand Rapids Art Prize
One project spelling NOW and adorned with clocks
An interesting large metal sculpture
Pat looks on at color my world full of sayings on each cylinder
The museum was open to the public with many art entries outside and in
A cool sculpture with the Grand River and DeVos Hall in the background
Marble sailboats displayed in the pool by a sculpter from Boyne City
One of three huge paper creatures cut entirely out of a single 10 x 10 foot section of paper.
The ladies gaze at the great view below
Lawn darts anyone?
Another great venue inside DeVos Hall
Another interesting display
This is acrylic on canvas that is over 8 feet across. The lighting from my camera does NOT do it justice. It looked so lifelike as if a photograph and very, very moving.
Nope, not an art installation, but a reflection of another building on this gorgeous day
A single light inside this cube cast perfect shadow designs in all directions
Maybe Detroit's future is so bright it needs shades?!
Just a cool looking bus outside the Big Old Building... or the BOB
That wall is an art installation of massive side made entirely of plants
Another interesting piece among hundreds spread across the city
At the BOB where we looked at more art and enjoyed drinks, entertainment and a meal courtest of Pat's bank.
Art was everywhere
The was the photo area for the "Breathe O2" installation
Very cool carvings of Black Hills granite.

It's What Grandparents Do
This past week we had some events that required our grandparent hats.
It was Grandparents' Day at St. Catherine of Sienna school
The day started with mass in their gym
The current phenomenon...the selfie
Lunch was served after mass
Our oldest grandchild, Maria, who is a magnificent human being
Grandma Paula watching the current youngest grandchild, Paulina
Mikey had a flag football game on Sunday
The boys are ready
Get the flag! And the rain begins
It rained, the wind blew and it was chilly
Yes, our second day in a row of watching football in the rain. The first day was at the Big House with 100,000 others. This day there were a few less fans.
