Congaree National Park stroll

Sunday was a great day to visit Congaree National Park and walk it's path.  The Masons joined us for a nice walk of nearly 3.5 miles.

The visitor center.  One of the few national parks with no fees required

"That's a big tree!"

Looking for the little lizard

"Wait for me!"

These are roots, called knees, that emerge from the ground around bald cypress trees

Good old poison ivy grows anywhere

"I'm up high!"

A big old hole in a funny looking tree

The Mason crew

What kind of flower is this?

Watching turtles in the pond

Enlarge this, look closely for the red spot and you'll see a pileated woodpecker that Avery spotted

Must be the skeeters can get bad!
