We booked a timeshare week at Apple Mountain Resort near Clarkesville, GA some time ago. A year ago we visited the place with the Masons. Since Aaron and Maeve both had some time off on both sides of the weekend we booked it for this week. It is a very kid/family friendly place although in need of some sprucing up. The weather was perfect and we did a lot of things.
We stopped at a park in Anderson, SC for lunch and a little relaxation.
The girls had fun
Putt putt golf was free at the resort and we took advantage of it with the kids.
The adults enjoyed it, too
There is a nice playscape on the grounds and...
various sports like tetherball
We did some reading and iPad
Grandma Rose and Avery listen to Kendall read her book
The girls listened to Maeve read, too
Our visit to Babyland General was a big hit
Every hour they have a birth of a Cabbage Patch doll
It's one big bunch of dolls
So many dolls, so hard to choose
They let the children handle and carry around the dolls
Avery loved to cart her doll around in the carriage
Kendall and Avery with their new Cabbage Patch dolls
They had hams in the place, too
We ate...
read more books...
played video games...
and visited Helen, GA for their Oktoberfest.
We had ice cream
We went to the festival building for food and music
Kendall pretended her spoon was a musical instrument
The festival hall with the German band
Proof we were there and...
Maeve and Aaron got in the act, too.
Back at Apple Mountain the girls enjoyed a pig race
Shoulder rides were fun
Goats on the Roof may become a tradition
The goat awaits his treat
This really is the roof of the building
A few goats
We drove on to Clayton, GA and the girls got some rabbit ears
We rested after some long days
On the way home we stopped in Clemson and the Old Stone Church
There was a cemetary at the Old Stone Church with many confederate soldiers buried.
The monument to the confederate soldiers
A larger view of the church
A park in Clemsom with the playground in Clemson colors.
Our last stop was in Greenwood where we saw they dyed the fountain pink!
