Friends and Relatives

We took a little trip into Florida to visit friends and Rose's sister.  We were fortunate to stay with someone every night except two.  No pictures from our first stop, Savannah, but then we got some shots from each spot.  But first below is the most recent picture of Mairead aka Mazie from the San Diego part of the clan.

Erin and Mazie at 2 1/2 months

Pat and Katie...our first stop with a gift to go to Aaron

Second stop was in Palmetto to visit Rose's sister Mary and friend Ned

Ned, Mary and Rose at Emerson Point Preserve

Taking a little hike through the preserve

Next stop was Tavernier in the Keys to visit Kadars.  Karen poses

We had a great dinner with the Kadars
Rose, Skip and Karen relaxing in the Keys

On the way back north we saw lots of gators in the Everglades

Our last stop was the Tybee Island Inn, a very nice B&B

The Tybee Island Inn is a building part of an old fort garrison with beautiful grounds

This picture is out of sequence.  Our third stop was in Port Charlotte to visit Pat Finlan

Pat fixed a great dinner for us and some of her dear friends in Port Charlotte.

Rose and sister Mary relax and catch up

Tybee Island beach

Coming off of Tybee we stopped at Fort Pulaski.  This sign gives a neat tidbit of Civil War history

The fort was quite impressive and well reconstructed and preserved

On the top of the fort

A great view towards Tybee Island from the fort

Maison Mason

Over the MLK weekend we helped the Masons do some work on their yard.  A few pictures follow.

The bushes were overgrown and made it hard to see coming out of the driveway

This was a fairly large tree by the pool that needed removal and replacement

The driveway after some heavy trimming.  The right side is yet to be done

A Carolina blue saphire spruce goes in

Look at all the "help"

The entry is trimmed

They found an old bench in the backyard and put it in front.  Next up is to paint the bench and pick some other, smaller plants to add color and texture.  The bushes will fill in over time

Edisto Island Beach

After our three weeks in Michigan over the holidays we returned to South Carolina.  We had reserved a timeshare on Edisto Island Beach and planned to take my mother along but unfortunately she got sick and could not travel.  May have been just as well since it was a cold week and we only made it for 3 days.  Maeve and daughters joined us for the visit.  We have been there once before and it was also cold...in fact it snowed!  It's a great spot to chill out figuratively and we hope to visit sometime when it is not liteerally chilled!

Headed to the Edisto Beach to look for shells

Kendall is ready to go

Grandma Rose escorts Avery.  Notice how warm we had to dress!

A nice beach view

Low tide and Avery said it was "sudsy."

Looking for shells

We spied some legs of this crab and dug it out to see but then covered it back up to stay warm.

"Hurry up Grandpa, it's cold!"

A nice sunset

We played a little putt putt golf.  Needless to say we were the only ones out

Avery tried hard

"Want to play, too?"

A little playground time

Bob is where he belongs

Kendall had a style all her own

Grandma got in the action

Teeing off

The island is a hatching point for loggerhead turtles

We had a lunch at Po Pigs

Kendall had to check out the pig, too

Our second beach day was as cold as the first

We did see some dolphins

The water was sparkley Avery said
