Super Bowl Pasties

Pasties for Super Bowl have been a tradition for us since we lived in Harbor Beach, MI and joined several other Yoopers to make huge batches of pasties to eat and later enjoy for the Super Bowl.  We have done this every year since 1979 except for one year.
This year we made a small batch with the help of the Masons.  Here are a few pics.

Ready to roll

"Put your elbows into it, Kendall!"

Almost everyone got their hands dirty
After the pasties Aaron played a rousing game of Princess Monopoly.

California & Houghtens

January 28 we flew to San Diego to celebrate Erin's birthday on the 29th and generally visit.  Good flights there and mostly good weather although one day had some serious wind and rain with widespread damage but none in the Houghten's immediate area.  Pics follow

A little more progress unwrapping

We brought a baby doll for Mazie

She loves her play area

The birthday girl

We also brought some tea time toys the Masons sent

We spent much of one day at Ocean Beach

The surf was really high.  Several waves crashed over the pier

The main reason for going to Ocean Beach was the giant calamari from the South Beach Bar.

It was a nice day for a walk.  By the way, Mazie is taking several steps at a time now.

A great day to be outside

We stopped in a cool antique place in Ocean Beach and tried out a rocker

A little story time

"OK, OK.  I'm getting out the New Year greetings and baby announcement"

Let's dance

"Who me?"

The orange tree in their side yard.  We picked a couple dozen to bring back.  They are great!

We bought this cabinet at the Ocean Beach antique shop as a late Christmas present for Mazie

This is the Audi dealership on Carlsbad that Mike is overseeing.  It's enormous and very stylish at the far end with special stone facia and beautiful inside.

Early January Pictures

We visited the town of Bluffton, SC just off Hilton Head Island.  We had a very nice lunch at the Cottage Cafe there and drove around the town.  Here are also some random pics of our time on Hilton Head.

Hilton Head Fun

Our first day on Hilton Head Island was January 1, 2016.  We explored a little bit of the island and drove to Sea Pines Plantation area to the Lighthouse Park.  The girls had a great time at the park and Bob climbed the lighthouse.  We had lunch at Aunt Chiladas, a Mexican restaurant and then hit the beach at Coligny Beach Park.  Here are some pics.
