A Walk, A Quilt and a Party

Hey y'all!  I'm continuing to try to keep a blog up to date about life down here in SC.  There's a lot more to post since there are little kids around.  The month of February has been pretty wet but scattered in between there were a couple pretty nice days.  Here are some pictures of life down here and a little girl's fourth birthday party.

Maeve made this nice quilt for a friend's new baby.  Rose is helping to finish it.  Avery is keeping one of the corners from moving.

A little more quilt work

Sunday was beautiful with sun and mid-60s so we drove to the Lake Murray dam and took a little walk.

"Are we ready to go?"

Kendall's 4th birthday party was at SnipIts in Lexington.  This is a salon for little kids!

A small party room in the back is all decked out for the little girls.

Dress up clothes are there, too, for the kids.

They can actually get a manicure and pedicure!

Let's get this party started!

Parents of this generation waiting for their child...everyone has, or is looking at, their smart phone.  No conversation between them at all!  I wonder how their kids will communicate in the future?

At the end of the party there was a fashion show and a walk on a red carpet.  Kendall looks 'stunning.'

The fashion show is over, the red carpet walk complete no it's time for the papparazi!

Pizza and lemonade for lunch followed by cupcakes with pink frosting.

It's time for presents!

Nanny Redux & Kendall the Birthday Kid

Hey there.  Still February and some more nanny care pics and a couple of Kendall on her 4th birthday!

Finger painting is among the fun

"My hand is green!"

"Cleanup, cleanup," goes the song.  But, right after this was the meltdown when we made her stop.

"Make a big bubble, Grandma!"

It was warm enough to plan in the sand and water.

We sorted and stacked the blocks according to color.

A little more floor work on the blocks.

We celebrated Kendall's 4th birthday with a message in chalk on the driveway

"Presents!"

"It's Merida, Avery!"

"What's this?"

Some nightgowns for both of the girls

"But I don't want to take a nap!"

Some Masons, an Atlanta Shower and Team Rog!

It's time for another post of pictures from South Carolina.  We've continued the Avery care process along with some gatherings with the Mason family.  It's been a mix of weather down here but on the whole very tolerable.

Rose and Maeve made a visit to Atlanta for Kalee's baby shower.  While there they got a picture of Pat and Katie, with Rose, and the Team Rog wrist bands.  We try to keep the good vibes going for Roger...and Pat!

The Mason girls got some Valentine goodies

Avery likes to paint...especially finger paint

One of the nice weather days

Kendall could even play in the water and made some Kendall tracks!

Conor kept hiding whenever Maeve tried to take his picture

They also celebrated Pat's birthday

Out for breakfast after the party.  Wonder what Kalee is concerned about?

Notice the Coakley trademark?  Pat and Jennie both display the tip of the tongue concentration!
Go Team Rog!

Drivin', Eatin' and Playin'

The reasonable temperatures continue in South Carolina.  Over the weekend we visited the Masons despite Rose's rotten old cold.  It was a decent day so we took the Viper out for a spin after we figured out how to take the speed limiter off.  The girls loved the faster car!  And, we had to trot to keep up with it.  They had hot dogs and brats and we made some hibachi burgers.  Nice to be able to grill out!

We speeded up the car so we have to trot to keep up.

"We're driving the car, Grandma!"

Avery likes some hot dog with her catsup.

Nanny care continues even with a sickly Grandma Rose.  Playdoh is always fun

Team Rog, Michigan Visit, Grandkids

It was a busy last week of January.  Bob drove to Michigan to visit friend Roger and his wife Pat.  Roger has leukemia and, together, he and Pat are fighting the battle to get healthy enough for a bone marrow/stem cell transplant.  They are staying in our condo in Brighton so they can have a short ride to the UM hospital several times a week.  While there I also got a chance to visit the Denjas and assist Carmen in opening some early birthday gifts.  Also got a chance to watch Mikey in one of his karate sessions.

Keep the prayers, good vibes and positive thoughts coming and going for Roger!

Rose's nanny job of grand-daughter Avery continues and Bob assists.  Some pics follow of all the above.

Bob and Roger show off their Team Rog wrist bands.

No ice on the roads in North Carolina and Tennessee but lots of ice present from water oozing from the  rocks along the freeways.

Mikey is second from left waiting for the next command in karate.

Mateo and Mommy LeighAnne ham it up for the camera.

Got to see a little bit of snow in Michigan.  Nice to see and nicer to leave.

Some birthday clothes for Carmen

Daddy Mike and Peter play along

"Gee, I wonder what this is?"

A new guitar for Carmen for her 12th birthday.  We're anxious to hear her play when we get back to Michigan.

Grandpa Bob and Avery bonding

Kendall gets to stop by each time Daddy picks up Avery after school.

Ya can't beat eating fruit loops with Avery while laying on the floor.

Grandma Rose and Avery go to the library story time each week, too.
