Game Time

Ever since the University of Michigan added the two large sky boxes on the sides of the stadium I wanted to attend a game simply to hear if there is a difference in sound volume or quality.  I finally made it Saturday with Rose and friends Dave and Sue Micinski.  The men in maize and blue played a lousy game but the stadium was all that I remembered it to be and more.  What a place.

We're here!

Warm up

"Is the rain coming?"

We did get wet

Student section indicates the season

The big screen showed all the aircraft that flew overhead for the pre-game show

One of many different flyovers...maybe the best part of the game

The Michigan Marching Band takes the field

The drum major doing the traditional backward head tap to the turf

Supposedly over 109,000 in attendance?

Old Glory rises

Projects for All Ages

We've been busy with various projects around the condo with the largest being the basement work.  But, even the Denja boys got into some project action while staying one night.  And, of course, Rose is always working on something.  One was pretty special.  She and sister Mary had salvaged two very old religious pictures after the fire consumed their childhood home.  Mary had them stored in her garage for several years and gave them to Rose just recently.  They will be passed on to Leighanne now.

Lego projects

Mikey and Peter practicing pounding nails

The boys just happened to put these small board pieces together around them and I thought it looked like a boat

The floor product awaits installation

The first course is laid

Progressing

Nearly finished

The drywalls can be added and baseboard molding

We're happy with the look

Before repairs with some plaster repair being fitted

Another look

The molding simulated and a coat of paint

The second fram looks pretty good

Project Basement

Here are a few pictures to demonstrate the progress of the basement.

Walls are taped in prep for the ceiling paint

We're almost ready

Full body suit and the primer goes on

Lumber is delivered

Moved the lumber into the house

Industrial ceiling look is done

We think it will do the job

Now we can get the lumber downstairs

The first wall is up and the bath vent awaits the finish job

Another wall ready to go up

Bob the builder...well the assistant anyway

The pile dwindled, the scraps are ready to be taken out and the extra lumber goes back for a refund

The framing is done

The bathroom space awaits the next steps and we are at a point to have the flooring installed in the other space

Late Summer Showers

Here are pictues from the two baby showers given for Erin.  One is for the hometown crowd and given by Rose and sisters Maeve and Leighanne.  The second is the metro Detroit shower given by Mike's mother Jan and sister Becky.  Will post some captions later.
